Welcome back to The Mauldin Minute, the show that brings you quick tips for a healthier, happier life. I’m Dr. Matt Eiken, and today we’re diving into a topic that’s essential for your health—hydration.
We all know that drinking enough water is important, but did you know that even mild dehydration can affect your mood, energy levels, and overall well-being? Staying properly hydrated helps your body perform at its best, from regulating your body temperature to keeping your joints lubricated and supporting your digestion.
But let’s be honest—getting enough water each day can be a challenge, especially with busy schedules and the distractions of daily life. That’s why I’m sharing some simple hydration hacks to help you stay on track.
First, start your day with water. After a night’s sleep, your body is naturally dehydrated, so drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning can jumpstart your hydration and help wake you up. If plain water doesn’t appeal to you, try adding a slice of lemon or a splash of juice for flavor.
Next, carry a water bottle with you wherever you go. Having water on hand makes it easier to sip throughout the day, and it serves as a visual reminder to stay hydrated. If you’re someone who forgets to drink, try setting hourly reminders on your phone or using an app to track your intake.
Another tip is to eat your water. Yes, you heard that right! Many fruits and vegetables, like cucumbers, oranges, and watermelon, have high water content and can contribute to your overall hydration. Including these in your meals and snacks is a tasty way to boost your water intake.
Finally, listen to your body. Thirst is a sign that you’re already on your way to being dehydrated, so try to drink before you get thirsty. Pay attention to other signs like dry skin, headaches, or fatigue, which can also indicate that you need more water.

Very friendly staff and Doctor. On time. Great results
I came to Mauldin Clinic of Chiropractic after getting rear-ended in a car accident. I was struggling with the process at first, but the team made everything so much easier, especially when it came to coordinating with my attorney. The front desk staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Dr. Matt is also great. He takes his time to explain everything, is very educated in what he does, and makes sure you understand what’s going on with your treatment. Everyone has been professional, welcoming, and easy to work with from start to finish. I really appreciate how they’ve helped me through this process, and I would definitely recommend Mauldin Clinic of Chiropractic to anyone dealing with a car accident injury!
Barely able to walk without crutch or cane, and in constant 8/10 pain, I turned to the professionals at Mauldin Chiropractic. From the first exam I thought I was in good hands, but no, I was in excellent hands, and only two months later, Dr. Eiken has reduced the pain to a 2/10, and walking without aid. Highly recommend this team to everyone that asks me and tell them if it wasn’t for Mauldin Chiropractic I wouldn’t be walking and still in a world of pain.
I have been a patient for 15 years. Dr. Matt is the best! He is gentle but his treatments are always helpful & he gets me on track & keeps me on track!
Dr Eiken is precise, methodical, and he and his staff are efficient and professional. As someone who’s been to multiple chiropractors with limited success, Dr Eiken found the root of my issues and fixed it on the very first visit. I highly recommend. Bravo…
Excellent service, super friendly, super professional.100% recommended.
I have had nothing but an exceptional experience with Dr. Matt Eiken and the entire team at The Mauldin Clinic. From the moment you walk in, you are met with a welcoming, warm, and genuinely caring atmosphere. The entire team is incredibly well-trained, organized, professional, and compassionate. Even when the office is busy, you never feel rushed or overlooked. They take the time to listen, treat you with kindness and respect, and make sure your questions and concerns are addressed thoroughly. It is clear that patient care is truly a priority here, and that level of care makes a meaningful difference. I am extremely grateful to have found such a wonderful practice and would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Eiken and The Mauldin Clinic to anyone looking for a provider and team who genuinely care about their patients.
This was a new patient visit and I was impressed by how welcoming and friendly the staff was. I will also share that the office was spotless. As a nurse this is very important to me. I look forward to continuing care.
I was having back pain and called to see if I could be seen the same day and Dr. Eiken made time to get me in. He is great! I always leave in better shape than when I first get there. Awesome people! If you're looking for chiropractic care at its finest look no further!
As a professor of anatomy for 36 years now, I have a reasonably sound understanding of the body. Dr. Matt absolutely knows the connections between skeletal misalignment, nerve compression, and pain. He is the best Chiropractor I have found - thorough, knowledgeable, and concerned for his patients. The office setting is pleasant and calming, and with a wonderful and welcoming staff. Highly recommended.
When I first started I was in a lot of pain and had a a hard time walking. I now have minimal pain and can walk pretty good. I am not a 100% nor will I ever be, but thanks to the help of Dr. Matt I am able to get around without the pain and assistance I was using. I am now going once a month to keep everything in check. That is incredible knowing how bad I was. Thank you so much to Dr. Matt, and his amazing team. You guys are amazing.
